Beatrice Otto

a design education initiative

Today, good design is not only the result of combined functionality and aesthetics; it is also socially empathetic and environmentally friendly.

from Waste to Wisdom is dedicated to:

  1. learning about Best Practice

  2. developing ideas, concepts and applications for Next Practice

- in order to accelerate an urgent transformation in design thinking and practice from wasteful to wise approaches.

fW2W aims to provide opportunities for students, designers, professionals from other disciplines and the public to inquire into and learn about the utilization of sustainable criteria throughout the design process, existing sustainable design solutions and explore new possibilities. Our purpose is to inspire, resource and educate through visual representations of current Best Practice and ground breaking Next Practice, resulting in an up-and-coming visual culture for sustainability that our society can relate to and be inspired into action and participation.

Awards Competition - inspire change and creativity, and celebrate good design thinking and practice with visual representations of Best Practice and Next Practice

Learning & Innovation Resources - develop and create an Image Bank about sustainable design from the competition entries to shift paradigms amongst current and future consumers and producers.
